flyfishing on lough connThe Pontoon Bridge Hotel is situated on the narrow peninsula between Loughs Conn and Cullin and located in the heart of an angler’s paradise.

The River Moy drains Lough Conn – a beautiful lake of some 12,000 acres with many bays and islands and noted for its free rising trout. Conn enjoys a good run of spring salmon and an excellent run of grilse. Lough Conn - one of the great lakes of the West, extends nine miles from north to south and varies in width from two to six miles.

Fishing School Instructor - Jack Mellett

The Hotel’s School of Fishing was the first of its kind to be established in Ireland in 1987. Since then we have been teaching people how to learn the gentle art of fly fishing and with Loughs Conn and Cullin on our doorstep, there is no better a venue to get started or improve on your skills. Pontoon is known as the angler’s paradiseand a popular choice for fishing breaks in Ireland.

Local angling expert Jack Mellette is the chief instructor at the School and he can show you how to fly fish in just one day! Jack has over 30 years experience fishing Loughs Conn and Cullin for wild brown trout and salmon and is also a master fly tyer whose patterns are much sought after.

Jack provides full tuition for complete beginners. No previous knowledge of fly-fishing is required but of course, it’s always an advantage. Depending on the participants, casting tuition can first take place on the hotel lawn where you will learn how to cast properly before heading out on the lake.

Classes usually commence at 10am and the day usually ends around 5pm.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
